Single Fin
If you're researching what to do in Uluwatu, be prepared to plan your days chasing the sunset. Located on the south western tip of the isle, there are endless options of places to be while the sun slowly dips below unobstructed views of the ocean. We only had a couple of nights in Uluwatu, one of which was taken by traveling, so we had to push some 'sunset' recommendations to late afternoon stops. Eight girls huddled around a scorching hot table, Single Fin restaurant was one of those spots. Being a sun addicted girl from Hawaii frozen by the always 60-70 degrees of SF, I bullishly decided I could handle the one seat directly in the sun. It wasn't more than 5 minutes before I traded that spot for standing smack in front of the one industrial sized fan located a couple of feet away from our table. After cooling down for a couple of minutes I perched myself on the railing overlooking the surf, tippy-toeing as much as I could, as if to elevate myself a teeeensy bit closer towards the water. Oh did I forget to mention that? The reason to come to Single Fin: a clear bird's eye view of Suluban beach. Nothing beats the overhead magic of watching sets approaching the shore. Clean lines slowly criss crossing their way in, until they finally dissolve into the sand.
If you know anything about me, you know these basic things:
1. You HAVE to order a drink and sample the grindz (hey if you really want to experience a place, you do it through the food!)
2. I MAJORLY geek out over interior design.
SIngle Fin checked both requirements. We sipped fancy coconut martinis and fruity slushy drinks. They were pretty strong especially when teamed with the sun (that's what I tell myself instead of admitting I'm really just a lightweight) but I got a few, just happy for the relief of an iced beverage. I strolled around jumping between the bar's levels, fawning over the colorful fins lining the back of their bar, reflecting the already colorful light being filtered through a cool stained glass window. But enough of me telling you about it - that's what pictures are for right?
